WHAT IS IT?
Inspiration is a skill of leaders who envision what can be accomplished and then get their team excited about that goal. Everyone wants to feel like they are contributing to something important. Visionary leaders are able to cast a vision that engages the hearts and minds of other staff and then keep them committed throughout the life of the organization or project.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Without a strong and compelling vision, people can lose interest in their work or disengage from the original mission. Billions of dollars are lost every year because of low productivity and poor employee performance. Similarly, a project or a movement can lose traction when the original envisionaries lose energy and motivation. Many leaders without the ability to unite and inspire their peers live in a constant state of frustration when they see that the team is not living up to its potential.
